"FRIENDS-GIVING:" LIKE THANKSGIVING BUT WITH YOUR FRIENDS

Ahh Thanksgiving break. Family, football, and your high school bedroom. But most importantly: the Thanksgiving meal! Why wait until that fateful weekend when you can enjoy turkey, stuffing, and pie now? I gathered with the Michigan Water Ski team for the ultimate "Friends-giving."

This bucket list item couldn't be eaiser!

1. Set a date.

2. Send a Google doc to your friends with a sign-up of who is bringing what dish.

3. Make your dish (the hardest part by far).

4. Celebrate with friends!

Let's focus on the most important part of Friends-giving: the dish you'll be sharing with friends. If you're like me, this could be your first time cooking your mom's famous casserole or apple pie. Maybe you've never watched the magic happen in the kitchen. Don't despair!

I've seen my mom make her delicious green bean casserole a million times, but I needed to phone home to make sure I had the recipe just right. It couldn't have been easier:

3 cans of green beans

1 can of cream of mushroom soup

1 can of French friend onions

Cheddar cheese

Combine green beans and cream of mushroom soup in a casserole dish. Then, bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Add cheese and the French fried onions on top!

I was able to make the dish earlier that day and heat it up for my friends just before dinner. In the photos above, you can see my friends brought apple crisp, fruit salad, apple sauce, soup, and chili. We also had mashed potatoes, stuffing, salad, rolls, turkey, and cranberry sauce. For those friends who didn't have access to a kitchen, they contributed $5 for turkey and drinks, or brought things like Insomnia cookies!

Everything turned out delicious, but the most important part was spending time with my teammates. We took a moment to go around and say what we were thankful for, and more often than not we said each other. What a blessing to have met such wonderful group of people in college.
